Jordaens represents his daughter when selling a house (16 October 1668)

Abstract

Johan Wierts, councilor in the Council of Brabant, and his wife Elisabeth Jordaens, daughter of Jaques Jordaens, give proxy to Jacque Jordaens to sell the house ‘De Witte Roose’ they had inherited from Anna Catharina en Elisabeth van Noort.

Op huijden den 16 octobris 1668 compareerden voor mijn notaris in presentie vande naergenoemde getuijgen, Joffr. Elisabeth Jordaens, meerderjarige dochter, mitsgaders de Heer ende Mr. Johan Wierts, Raetsheer in den Raede van Brabant, als man ende voocht van Vrouwe Anna Catharina Jordaens, sijn Eed: huisvrouwe, ende verclaerde sij comparanten onwederroepelijck geconstitueert ende volmachtich gemaeckt te hebben, gelijck sij constitueeren ende machtich maecken mitsdesen, de Hr. Jacques Jordaens, haer comparants vader ende schoonvader respective, specialijck om van wegen ende uijt haer constituants naemen aen Augusteijn van Cappen ende Joffrou Barbra van Es te vercoopen ende te transporteren seeckere huijsinge ende erve staende ende gelegen binnen de stadt Antwerpen op de hoeck vande Swarte Susterstraet op de Coopere Brugh, genaemt de Roose ofte Witte Roose, de comparanten toebehoorende als erfgenamen van wijlen Joffr. Catharina Anna en Elisabeth van Noort, alle kinderen en erfgenamen van Sr. Adam van Noort ende Elisabeth Nuijts, voorts de gemelde coopers in de voorschreven huijsinge, goedenisse ende vestinge te doen volgens rechten, ende costuijnen der voorschreven Stadt, ende voorts dienaengaende verders alles te doen off sij constituanten present ende voor oogenwaeren doen soude comen ofte mogen belovende sij constituanten voorgoet vast bundich ende van waerden gehouden ende doen houden alle t geene uijt crachte deses sal werden gedaenende verricht, gelijck sij constituanten ratifieeren ende approbeeren t geene dien aengaende gedaen ende verricht is onder

Today, October 16th 1668, appeared before me, notary, in presence of later mentioned witnesses, Miss Elisabeth Jordaens, full-grown daughter, and Mr. Johan Wierts, Councelor in the Council of Brabant, as husband and guardian of Mrs. Anna Catharina Jordaens, his housewife, who declared to have irrevocably authorized Mr. Jacques Jordaens, her father and his father-in-law respectively, to sell on their behalf to Augusteijn van Cappen and Mrs. Barbra van Es, a certain house in Antwerp at the corner of Swarte Susterstraet at the Coopere Brugh, called Roose [Rose] or Witte Roose [White Rose], which is belonging to them as heirs of the late Catharina Anna and Elisabeth van Noort, both children and heirs of Mr. Adam van Noort and Elisabeth Nuijts, (…)
