Held, The Oil Sketches of Peter Paul Rubens, A Critical Catalogue, Volume I, Princeton University Press, 1980, no. 337, pp. 464-5, as Rubens, noting that ‘The picture based upon this sketch, however, is indeed, as has been recognised for a long time, at least in part, the work of Van Dyck, incorporating some original studies of heads by Van Dyck himself. (Jaffé also claims to recognise the hand of Jordaens in some parts of that work.)’

The Feast in the House of Simon the Pharisee (oil on canvas transferred from panel, 189 x 284.5 cm, The Hermitage, inv. no.
