Erik Larsen, The Paintings of Anthony Van Dyck, Luca Verlag Freren, 1988, p. 451, no. A 128, as ‘not by Van Dyck. It might have been done by one of the helpers in Van Dyck’s studio. Executed in the 1630’s or even later’.

Note: the painting was purchased by the gallery in Paris in 1866 for £80 as a Van Dyck.
