Provenance

Given by Jan van den Broeck to the church (then called ‘Predikherenkerk’ or the Dominican Church), as part of a cycle of The Fifteen Mysteries of the Rosary;
replaced by a copy and transferred to the altar of the Holy Cross to the right of the entrance to the choir in the same church, before 1687;
it remained there until the 1770s;
removed from the church on the order of the French authorities and taken to Paris, August 1794;
exhibited in the Musée Central in the Louvre, Paris;
part of the shipment of paintings recovered from France that arrived in Antwerp, 5 December 1815;
briefly in the ‘Museum’, the former Franciscan monastery, 1816;
back in the church, June 1816.
